OUR COMMUNITY

Aban is a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt nonprofit. Founded in Washington, DC in 1998, our mission to reclaim our children, rebuild our families, and revive our communities.

Aloetree launched in October 2013 and sells organic and fair trade clothing and home d├ęcor in an effort to fight human trafficking and take social responsibility seriously. All clothing items depict an animal character, each representing a different value like passion or friendliness. The designs are modern, and the comfortable interlock cotton promises a soft and secure fit. The clothing is made by organic farmers and manufacturers, including a company called Freeset, which employs survivors of human trafficking in India.  Proceeds go to supporting Chab Dai, an organization in Cambodia that organizes trafficking prevention and community awareness programs.

The launch of Aloetree Kids sparks the question, “Is social consciousness only for adults?” Aloetree Kids certainly doesn’t think so, and has a two pronged mission intended to compel parents to shop smart and to recognize children as being valuable community members. The top priorities of Aloetree Kids are social responsibility, transparency, and education of even the youngest consumers. Aloetree’s blog (www.aloetreekids.com/blog) will detail opportunities for children to get involved in their community, and an online storybook featuring the Aloetree characters will bring up issues like global warming in a kid-friendly way.

“Even though the end purpose of the products are socially oriented – and I am so proud we support the organizations and manufacturers that we do – I wanted to make a collection that was outstanding in quality, comfort, and design,” said Anbinh Phan, founder of Aloetree Kids.
